As I am writing, it is the Fourth of July, the day we celebrate the birth of the United States. I live much of the year in Brazil. Yes, I have a little homesickness, and, yes, I feel some misgivings for the immediate future of the country of my birth. With your permission, I want to share a few of my thoughts below the fold.

Now, how do these two compare? I can only figure that the powers that be are really, really frightened of Obama.
