Shoot the messenger...

The real deal about the MSM being pro-Obama is the old strategy of shooting the messenger when all else fails. And failing is the best description of the McCain and GOP. So, shoot the messenger. Evidence is mounting. Take a look at CBS News, headlined "House Republicans Fire Off Letter to New York Times":

TNY COVER: A FINAL SOLUTION

After Thomas Nast taught us to use india ink to break swords, the word skewer took on a new meaning. Please pardon my KGO moment, but maybe the editorial cartoonists have an answer to a netrooter's prayer -- skewer satire with satire!
Below the fold are links to three cartoons that gave a smile. Thankfully, there are more, too many to list here.
Deep roots on the 4th

As I am writing, it is the Fourth of July, the day we celebrate the birth of the United States. I live much of the year in Brazil. Yes, I have a little homesickness, and, yes, I feel some misgivings for the immediate future of the country of my birth. With your permission, I want to share a few of my thoughts below the fold.
Wes Clark is maybe the only person in America

who has stature and experience enough to say anything about McCain. West Point valedictorian, Rhodes Scholar, heavily wounded in battle, Nato commander, four-star general. All this and more compared to McCain. Fourth from the bottom of his class at Annapolis, a 700-page service record of which 17 pages have seen the light of day, gravely hurt in crash, held prisoner for more than five years, dumped the mother of his children at the hospital, married a rich blonde, finished his Navy career as a Captain while on duty as a Congressional liaison without having been rated for high command, then cushioned into the Congress. Now, how do these two compare? I can only figure that the powers that be are really, really frightened of Obama.

to America. We just have not figured it out yet and the Bush White House is happy to let us dream on until he has left office.
We´ve been attacked, you say? Well, look at the direct (and indirect) effects of the gas prices and our almost complete inability to do anything about it. Here are a couple of things to think about below the fold:
Legacy vs. inheritance
Fri Jun 27, 2008 at 01:05:36 PM PDT
Come let us split hairs a little: the innuendo of a legacy is something bequeathed, but an inheritance is something received. When I read/hear of G.W. Bush preparing his legacy, I get a little upset -- as I was during the last days in office of Clinton, G.H.W. and Reagan. Let's deconstruct these two words in a little more detail below the fold.
RFK, MLK, rest in peace

I was a Peace Corps Volunteer in the spring of 1968. We heard the news of Martin Luther King's death on Brazilian radio. Our friends began to knock on our front door, also frightened.
